As I look at Sally Mann's incredible black and white portrait, "Candy Cigarette," I am transported into a dissonance of my own conflicting, adult reactions to childhood.

Also: a good amount of the street towards the background is brightly lit from above, as if the subject is just out of view, not yet ready to enter back into the line-of-sight of an all-knowing moon's watchful and judgmental eye above.
